VENUS in AQUARIUS SASS

Love Goddess Venus is now in Aquarius (from Feb 17th-March 12th), where we are enjoying a more liberated approach to love, mating, beauty and art.

Venusian values tend to favour prerogatives like giddy romantic attraction, personal desirability, beauty and aesthetics, whilst Aquarius is possibly the most platonically inclined sign of all; tending to prioritise things like loyalty, friendship, intellectual compatability, high-end principles, personal space, and permission to be kooky/fabulously individualistic/queer/gender fluid/unpredictable/un-pindownable in all personal relations, as well as in appearance, personal expression and art making.

So tis the season to be gloriously liberated and we don't care who knows it!

So obviously this pertains to love and romance. Any new connections seeding, or beginning to flourish right now are built on a solid bedrock of geniune friendship; many a 'platonic buddy-but with deeper chemistry simmering under the surface' connection will be revealing itself more fully right now. Or perhaps you're in an established romance, and realizing you have to be better friends, and offer a bit more unconditional support/emotional breathing to one another right now in order to allow each other, and your shared love to evolve and thrive at this point?

This requires a certain kind of emotional detachment; which preferably doeasn't mean we care or feel less, but that our love is so genuine and grand that we give it with a truly unconditional, fearless generosity. Which is the opposite of the kind of obsessively limbic, sexually adrenal, fear-based (fear of not being loved enough, that is), turbulent, demanding passion we often mistake for true love. It's an interesting lesson, to love a little more lightly and freely; and one we are all having a little look at right now...

It's also worth noting that Venus is travelling close to communication god Mercury for most of her time in Aquarius, so our best relationship skill right now is -you guessed it-effective communication. If something is going down in your romance and you don't know where you stand/how to navigate things? Have a bloody conversation already! Express yourself with your lover, ask the pertinent questions -ideally with enough lightness of spirit that they can respond freely; rather than a brooding/emotionally volotile say what I want to hear or the shizz hits the fan vibe, yes?

And Venus rules beauty and style. Aquarius doesn't dress like everyone else (or so they say). We're both fashion forward/switched on to the latest zeitgeist and rocking our own, unique look with a bold fuq-you to whatever the high street boutiques say this season is supposed to look like.

The Aquarian look can swing from wildly, flamboyantly, rebelliously. aesthetically provocative (see how we're all re-inspired by Bowie's fabulously flashy, iconoclastic fashion legacy right now) to quite utilitarian, unfussy clean lines. In any case Aqua is usually quite a modern, edgy, streamlined look as opposed to re-hashing anything too sentimentally vintage or busy with fussy detail. Lighter/brighter colours, and anything in the blue/aqaumarine/silver palette range, in clothes or jewellery, are good.

And hair. Leo is officially the sign of big, shiny hair consciousness but it turns out that it's usually Aquarians who have the most fabulous manes. If you are thinking about a new hair thing, or making an extra effort to show off your locks, Venus in Aqua is auspicious.

And skincare is cutting edge dermatalogical technology and ethical- Aquarius is big on principles, which of course includes animal rights; so if you still have any animal tested gunk in your beauty cabinet (and don't forget that hair dye and any eyeliner/mascara/eye products are highly likely to be thus compromised), now is a great time to clear it out and replace it all with lovely, cruelty free brands. Now that is real beauty!

And scent is not so much animalistic musks/heavy florals as something light, crisp, unobtrusive.

And Venus rules art, and in Aquarius we express our highest principles/political convictions via creative expression. Let's endeavour to say something meaningful, and constructively engage in whatever collective discussion is currently turning us on intellectually, in our creative output. Mercury is asking us thrash out our ideas and beliefs right now-and we're all in this together, so let's make our creative expression count on that front, yes?
